Three students from Ghana Armed Forces schools have earned national recognition for outstanding academic performance, after receiving the Presidential Academic Award for their achievements in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The students — Abigail Agyeiwaa Asante, Blessing Nortey Dowuona and Angel Eyram Gbadegbenyo — were among 52 exceptional students honoured at a Presidential Academic Awards ceremony held on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The award recognises the students’ exceptional performance at the end of their basic-school education and places their achievement among a wider national celebration of academic excellence. The three award recipients came from different Ghana Armed Forces schools.
Abigail Agyeiwaa Asante represented Michel Camp ‘2’ Junior High School in the Greater Accra Region. Blessing Nortey Dowuona represented Garrison Primary and Junior High School at Burma Camp. Angel Eyram Gbadegbenyo represented Services Basic School in Takoradi.
Their recognition demonstrates that academic excellence is being achieved by students across different school communities and locations, with the three GAF schools producing students whose 2025 BECE performance earned them a place among the country’s exceptional young scholars recognised at the ceremony.
A MESSAGE OF RESPONSIBILITY
While congratulating the award recipients, Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang urged them to become ambassadors of good conduct in their various schools.
She encouraged the awardees to remain focused on their goals, be conscious and responsible, and respect others as they continue their educational journeys.
Her message placed the students’ achievement within a broader understanding of education. Academic success, she indicated, should be accompanied by good conduct, responsibility and respect for others.
The message is particularly relevant as the students progress into new stages of their education, where they will encounter greater academic demands and new responsibilities.
